He cared for her safety in a sense of her being like a sister rather than a superior. Grey clearly cared for Billaba, but more as a sister than a lover. I would love to see how it affected him afterwards, but he became cold and closed off, much like Darman Skirata did after the loss of his wife. Bly clearly didn't remove his inhibitor chip, but once he started firing, he clearly couldn't stop. Bly may have had a love for Aayla, which is why he kept firing so he could have no time to hesitate and breakdown. I believe that Grey and Bly killed their Generals as fast as possible, quick and painless, because they truly cared for their Generals.

After losing many of the battalion's leadership, all of their corporals, sergeants and lieutenants, they killed Billaba, firing at her body even as it hit the ground, same as Bly. After the battle of Kaller, Grey would receive Order 66 and open fire on Billaba. He would also fight in the Third Battle of Mygeeto and in the Battle of Kaller. The battalion took heavy casualties, losing 90% of their forces, leaving Grey and three others alive. The battalion was sent Haruun Kal to combat the Separatists and repel then from the planet. He was assigned to serve under Jedi General Depa Billaba. He was in charge of his own battalion during the Clone Wars. Grey was a clone commander in the Grand Army of the Republic.
